"Noldus"

Sex Tags Amfibia
AMFIBIA 31 • 2 x 7" vinyl

LINK

DJ Sotofett's double 7" album "Noldus" is a peculiar twist and travel. During 13 tracks & 27 min. it's compact and generous, short yet long, with a playback format that doesn't invite space of attentiveness to be left. Featuring Jaakko Eino Kalevi on drums, Tuomas Toivonen on synth & DJ Sotofett on vocals its recorded in a Helsinki Sauna, on a Swiss train and in Narrabeen Australia. The narration and music is beautiful, frenetic, with synthetic and organic elements battling as the King of Leftfield against sonic mice stuck in between two realities.

In stores from November 11th, 2019

VERA DVALE & PSYKOVARIUS - Avav
Following up 2017's album "Udu" this is slow and powerful – with its set narration, but generous space and time, a room for imagination can cautiously be kept. A-side is direct, with generous intro's and endings, dense but with a light sonic specter, and a balance between the atonal & harmonious. B-side has darker undertones, being less framed it's more earthy and cosmic at the same time. Non rhythmic but all contrasting elements are here inseparable in sound and arrangement, from beginning till end, like a sonic tide.

This 12 min. 7" with 7 tracks carries flashback excerpts from DJ Sotofett's annual improvised live concerts at Pool, Tokyo. Taken from the 2017 edition feat. Tokyo's Osaruxo playing violin and Diskomo on mono synth & efx. Glittery, twinkly & glitchy noise, abruptly booming & drawn out it carries atmospheres & counter (re-)active elements typically generated by the moment of sonic symbios & interactive attention. GEIR TORE HOLM - Muohttagis èallime/Writing in Snow/Vi skriver i sn¸en
Sex Tags Amfibia presents Norwegian/Sami multi-crafted artist Geir Tore Holm's landmark sound piece "Writing in snow" – a typically poetic, funny and down to earth approach to nature, sound and every day reflections in the artists trademark style. Holm has since the early 90's been part of breaking down the established notion of ruling institutional qualities in Norway with countless projects involving sculptures, food, installations, farming, photography, video, sound & music (also incl. on AMFIBIA 10 - Sørfinnset Skole/the nord land 10"). This piece is feat. on a one sided flexi disc – an easily transportable and physical presentation of a sonic piece – outside the galleries and museums, and rather in peoples homes.

CITY OF WOMEN II - City Of Women II
Almost 20 years after the first record City of Women aka Jimi Tenor and Edward Vesala continue their avant garde but steady free jazz excursion on Sähkö's sublabel Puu. The traffic jam of "Dangerous Crossing" is released by the cunning rhythms of "Tabulatuuri" which was featured in a different suite on their first LP. First LP in new series from Finland, this subdue jazz drone album has the quality of dusk, but is never darker than the Nordic summers. Atonal & forceful at times, still padded and invitingly warm, it has 4 classy pieces that enjoy being on the fringes while slowly capturing the ear when organs drone, the TR-808 thumps, the percussive double bass and the saxophone layers fog of melodic growing waves of groove.
